Maine-bound Bolo
Brass, Sea Glass, Sterling Silver, Leather
This piece was designed to commemorate college graduation and a move from Colorado to Maine. A bolo made perfect sense not only because of its western ties but because of its queer adoption. I was given access to the client's sea glass collection and wanted to use some in the design. Georgetown Island was chosen as the backplate because of the many significant locations residing there for the client including their favorite sea glass hunting beach!
Personally I enjoy the focus of brass here. In this context it brings forward associations as a common marine metal. Keeping true to my process as a maker, there is at least something hammered in here, the prongs, and no adhesives have been used.
